Last night I had the honor of being the photographer at #helloSAL, a “reveal” party for one of Pittsburgh’s most darling icons – Secret Agent L. You can read about Laura and her adventures in Pittsburgh here. The event was a total success and raised over $1,500 for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Here are a few shots from the party. If you were there, or wish you had been, leave a comment and share something about the evening!

There were lots of neat things to bid on at the silent auction - craft brews, hand bags, stationary, gift certificates, books and more...

The Firehouse Lounge was serving up $5 sangrias that even the most die-hard beer drinkers couldn't resist.

SAL set up a Mini Mission Station for people to take part in.

At 9:00 p.m. SAL revealed what everyone had been waiting for...herself!

#helloSAL quickly evolved into a dance party on the terrace and continued well past the event's scheduled time.
Venue: The Firehouse Lounge
T-shirts and Invitation Design: Melissa Ott Design
Lighting/Tech Guy: Mike Woycheck
Slideshow Presentation: Derrick Brashear

I am so excited to have my work featured on MyWedding.com‘s Ideas & Trends Blog. Roman and Lauren’s wedding was certainly one of my favorites. It was beautifully styled in tiffany blue and Lauren and her wedding party were a blast to photograph!

This weekend turned out to be bitter-sweet. Nate and I had to go to Eastern Pennsylvania for his grandmother’s funeral on Saturday which meant that we would be on the same side of the state as both of our mothers on Mother’s Day. While Nate’s mom knew we were coming, my mom had no idea until we walked into her church on Sunday morning. We were able to take her to lunch in Scranton before heading back to Nate’s house for a BBQ with the sibs. It was great to see so many friends and family while home and, though exhausting, it was well worth all of the driving!
Here are a few photos from the weekend…

This is my mom and my family's new pet turtle.

I took a little break on the swing and Nate snapped this photo of me

Last night Nate and I headed into Pittsburgh to cover Cymbals Eat Guitars at the Brillobox. We had other stuff going on last night so we knew we would most likely miss the first opener and sure enough, we walked in just as they were finishing up. It was by far the busiest we had ever seen the venue but we made our way up to the stage just fine thanks to the laid-back and courteous crowd. After a relatively quick set-change, Mariage Blanc took the stage.

Like a lot of openers I’ve seen recently, they put on a really solid show — one that the headliner couldn’t quite follow. You’ll be able to see a full review of their show and EP on Pop Damage next week.

After Mariage Blanc and another set change came Cymbals Eat Guitars — a group of New Yorkers who strongly encourage ear plugs, and for good reason: they’re loud and angsty and in a venue like the Brillobox, they can’t help but be in your face about it.

While it may suit some, it didn’t suit us. We dashed out about half-way through their set and ended up running into Sam McUmber (Mariage Blanc’s keyboardist) outside his apartment. He was kind enough to give us a copy of their 2008 EP, Broken Record, to listen to on the way home, which made for a perfect post-show listen, even though we only recognized one song from their set (they mostly played from their soon-to-be released LP).
I snapped this shot on the way out of the Brillobox. It’s painted above the stairwell, visible only on the way out.

I’ve been testing out some new shooting locations that I plan to use for senior portraits this spring. I took my husband, Nate, along as a model and we were able to get some great shots at the abandoned bridge in Bridgeport. Thank you Nate for being so cooperative!
